St Margaret’s Calne is a warm, joyful community where boys and girls aged 2 to 11 years old grow in courage, curiosity and compassion. World-class sports facilities
St Mary’s Sports Club
Set within the same 27-acre campus, St Mary’s Sports Club offers outstanding facilities for pupils of St Mary’s Calne and St Margaret’s Prep, as well as the wider community. Facilities include a 25m swimming pool, state-of-the-art sports hall, climbing wall, and fitness suite and dance studio. Designed to inspire excellence across all areas of sport, these exceptional facilities stoke passions and support health – whether for competitive teams, personal fitness or pure enjoyment.

We are very proud of our 150-year history, which has seen St Mary’s Calne nurture incredible girls into confident, ambitious and successful young women.
With the St Mary’s Calne and St Margaret’s Prep working more closely together under one Head, our future looks even more exciting, where more children than ever can benefit from shared values, a supportive community and the education they need to truly flourish. Looking ahead, we remain dedicated to academic excellence across every stage of a child’s learning journey, taking them from nursery through to Sixth Form with energy, excitement and enthusiasm for their unique potential.

Our schools are guided by a highly experienced and passionate team of leaders and governors who share a deep commitment to academic excellence and the wellbeing of every pupil. Together, they provide robust strategic direction and moral integrity, upholding our values and vision to ensure the highest standards across every aspect of school life.
Since 2024, Mrs Anne Wakefield has led St Mary’s and St Margaret’s Calne as Head of both schools, with Mr Alex Hopkins as Head of Prep.
